      The Consequents

Yo! Super-Word Up to Cypress Hill, Dr. Greenthumb, and everyone at BRealtv!! Anthony from The Consequents here checkin’ in the forum! Love the show, and everything! Kickin’ it blazing in always a very artistic, intellectual, friendly-familiar presence & conversation 🙂
So, the story has it that as a youth in the 90’s I’m up checking out the music mags at at the Loblaws (which is a grocery store where I’m from in Ontario, Canada). I’m looking through reading about Deftones in an article with pictures, and interviews. I look at Stephen and something within says, “If you really like the guitar, you will meet me”.. “Okay?!?”, I would’ve said because the guitar has always been a severe, real part of my life since I came out in 89′. Guitar music & technology, Rock Guitar, & the craft in writing/performance musical-theatrical arts in general… All aspects of the thing y’know! Turning what could be seemingly illusions & inner visions into reality unfolding. I ‘dig’ all of it as they say! Unexpectedly met him in Montreal in my 20’s on the Koi No Yokan tour.
I recognize him on a walk from my hotel room (obviously not from Montreal myself, nor was I driving on my own at that time). I say, “Yo, Stef!”. “What’s up man!”, he says. We start chatting in a welcoming, “what’s good?”, friendly vibe **absolutely familiar in a sense** . I ask him if he wants some weed because I had a nice quarter I traveled with (strong indoor). He says, “Come by the site after the show. Come kick it!”. Word Up! Went about my day, and enjoyed the show! Head out, and rolled a pure two-paper joint thinking ahead (also, not wanting to “turn anyone off” with beholding a lot of weed at first for this session.
I go out, and chill by the bus to see what’s goin’ down. Steftone comes out the bus, “Yo! Tony” smiling he says holding a nice rolled blunt in the air and waving me down. Super-Cali Blunt yo! We smoked the blunt to the husk, and conversed with crew & opening musicians The Contortionist. That’s a wonderful experience & memory because obviously I’m into music 365%. I got the passion, and the ability to read the notation (similar to scoping-into the arts of comic books, and their issues- the cover art like the album art and the authenticity of each artist’s perspective/presentation) “Up In my skin!”:)
The next morning I get up, pack up the rest of my weed, and head for my Greyhound bus to head back to Ottawa. Waiting in line for the bus, and as the line-up is moving toward entering the bus; two security officers start checking bags.
I had a Tupperware with leftover Pizza & Fries from the night before, and the 1/2 quarter of weed was in the same Tupperware container. “Open your knapsack”, one officer says. He grabs the Tupperware, opens it up, and looks underneath the food. Grabs the 1/2 Quarter saying, “Sir, Please step aside”. I get called into an office of interrogation with them, and managed to work my way out of any ‘severe’ charge (They threw out the Tupperware whole). I got back on the bus and headed back. Weed wasn’t quite legal “yet” (still had it’s way’s to find it back then, and under code word you could get some good “G’s” in secret from convenience stores! **Back to the day’s of buying a gram & making it last for a bunch of joints..Sunday, but at least you’ve got a pinner rolled ready to smoke – dealer ain’t calling ya’ back** J/K 😛
B-Real! I’ve known about you long time too yo! Everyone loves Cypress Hill!! Meteor Man (saw it when it came out as a kid!). C-Minus! I think I recognize you from backstage at a KoRn show in Montebello **Friendly People of all together musical presence** -:D
I got paid to work at that Rockfest on an operation with the recycling crew with backstage access. Miraculous, and unbelievable experience for me. On the way to work we were picked up in a UHaul van with like 20 people locked in the back. Somewhere on the way in Quebec the van comes to a stop, and a bunch of cops opened the back; telling everyone to step outside. The driver didn’t have his licence on him when prompted to provide it. They made me drive the UHaul into Montebello because I was the only crew member with a “G” Driving Licence. Right backstage where all the trucks & office are. I was 26 about at the time, and I just finished the completed but unreleased Consequents-EP1 loaded on my IPhone. In memory; maturing, commencing, and leveling-up in putting together a project I knew to be serious, stick-with, and carry on with honor after some of my previous musical acts & experiences. Anyway 🙂
I really enjoy what you guys are doing at BREAL TV all together! Keep up the great work, and puff some knowledge & skill. I’ll come post some interesting stuff that’s good when I can! Thank you!
Consequents x Cypress Hill collab mix coming one of these good days! *Maybe lol!*
Let’s bust into 24′! It’s gonna be a good year no matter what yo!! Cheers!
